“Springtime in the wardrode”
In 2024, I created an improvisational dance performance inspired by the growth of plants. When I revisited the recorded footage, I was deeply moved and began to translate those movements into drawing.
This process reminded me of the years I spent beneath the Swiss Alps, where I lived through the cycles of spring and summer. Surrounded by mountains, I witnessed life slowly awakening—buds swelling, flowers preparing to bloom. Like the dance, nature held a quiet but vibrant energy.
Immersed in forests and alpine landscapes, I found strength in the natural world, and that strength carried me through the pressures of study. After returning to Hong Kong, I felt the passing of autumn and winter, until spring returned once more. It made me feel that the city, too, needs a breath of life. If we learn to look with appreciation, we may find nature’s gentle presence in the seams of the city, and in doing so, rediscover a sense of renewal.
