"Jockey Club Tree Lovers"

Urban Forestry Education Project

@The Conservancy Association

About

In this project, we used various art forms to allow the public to experience the beauty of nature, thereby fostering a sense of care for the environment. In addition to exhibiting my own work, I also took on a leading role in community art activities, engaging with the public and strengthening the connection between art and the community.

Background

After completing my Master’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy in the Swiss countryside, I developed a deep understanding of how the integration of the five senses can spark creativity, as well as an appreciation for the healing power of nature on both body and mind. Upon returning to Hong Kong, I presented my first installation artwork at The Conservancy Association.

“A Celebration After Listening to Green”

Close your eyes. Breathe gently. With a listening device resting upon the plants, begin to attune yourself to the subtle symphony of life—the quiet pull of roots drawing water from the earth, the delicate footsteps of ants tracing their paths, the silent unfurling of blossoms, the low, grieving murmur of a tree being cut. As you journey through this act of “listening to green,” images begin to surface and drift through the mind like fragments of a waking dream.

This work unfolds as a poetic encounter between myself, the plants, and the landscapes of imagination that arise in this listening. Within a space of shifting layers and interwoven realities, I came to sense plants not as passive forms, but as living presences—beings with pulse, with voice, with the capacity to respond. In return, I found myself answering through art and poetry, giving form to an inner dialogue that moves between the seen and the unseen.

This installation takes shape as a celebration—a ritual of recognition. It honors our ability to perceive the aliveness of plants, and invites us to enter into relation with them. Let us begin this ritual together: to listen, to feel, and to sing and dance with the green.

My writing poems and the stones from Saas Fee are the elements of my artwork.

Creative Process

1. In various parks and botanical gardens across Hong Kong, recordings were made to capture the inner sounds of plants.

2. After listening to these recordings, the impressions were transformed into drawings and poetry.

3. Different visual and textual works were then integrated and further transformed into an installation artwork.

Community art

In the community art activities, I led workshops for the public and participated as a dancer in improvisational performances
